Tableware Moulds
Pressure casting moulds
History
Our experience orignates from the 1980's when the first pressure casting moulds for table ware were developed. Thierry Leriche, now Managing Director, was involved in the research & development of porous resin at the time. As the resin components were very expensive and labour much cheaper in those days, the idea was forged to manufacture porous moulds with a "hard core".

"Full porous" or "Hard Core"
Today, the resin components are cheaper and labour costs are higher. Most moulds are therefore manufactured in full porous material. However, with some deep large dishes and those requiring relatively high pressures, we might propose a hard core, which gives less flexing during pressing and therefore renders a longer mould life. Such hard core moulds can be renewed about 3 to 4 times. Re-coating is done by chipping off the porous layer and recoating with a new porous resin.
CAD-CAM or Traditional moulds
We do it all. We use CAD drawing .iges, etc. or work straight from 3D design drawing which our experts adapt according to specification for direct CNC machining of the case mould which is rendered with great accuracy, ready for the porous resin casting.
We also use traditional plaster mould making technologies and can therefore provide all traditional services.
Direct CNC milling from pre-formed porous resin blocks
We can directly mill a mould using a pre-formed resin block. This results in a smooth surface area after milling.
This technology is currently used for prototyping / first design moulds, 3 or 4 part moulds and porous resin moulds for smaller items like cups, bowls, flasks, etc.
Which resin should be used?
We have many different resin types and we can 'tweak': them in many ways, but...there are no standard rules! The result should be an average mould life of 20.000 to 25.000 cycles. Results can be as low as 10.000, but we have also achieved outstanding results with up to 100.000 pieces out of one mould! Storage and long continuous production runs are key factors.
Are you having problems? Would you like to give us the opportunity to improve your existing mould life?
We need to know: What you are currently using, what problems you may be having, with which kind of items and what would you like to improve? (We can also supply the porous resin powder.) Contact CeraForm with your enquiry and we will offer you our solution.
Warrantee
CeraForm guarantees mould performance as each mould undergoes strict quality control according to our own stringent criteria. Moulds can also be tested on production pressure casting machines. |
The CeraForm Specialist Workshops
For the manufacturers who make- or would like to make moulds!
We know that many ceramic manufacturers have been making moulds for years. But do you have the latest technology in-house? Do you want to improve and/or keep up to date? CeraForm has developed specialist workshops. We can offer training & refresher courses, mould shop equipment & systems supply and consulting. These arrangements are principally made on a "part supply of moulds" basis. Contact us for details. We have many customers who produce moulds and order moulds who visit us on a regular basis, to keep up to date and improve their work methods and materials. We have already equipped 7 mould making workshops worldwide and have done many technology know-how transfers.
